Introducing… Lunar Lock

Cold wave duo Lunar Lock hail from Angers, France. Following on from their punchy EP ‘The Dream Of Sad City’ in 2023, they are back with a new single. Fans of Motorama, Human Tetris, Slowdive, and Joy Division will find themselves at home here. Expect rubbery bass lines, cold and harsh drum machines, and keyboards that sound like watery guitars. With Maxence’s bass often driving the melodic groove, Romain’s voice echoes across the mix like a horn in a post-punk way.

‘I Need To Find Some Time’ is catchy and immediate. It flirts with dream pop, post-punk, shoegaze (without the guitars – although you’d never notice), and cold wave elements to make their mark in the sand. The track is about how everyday life consumes the free time we have to do what we wish. Lunar Lock wanted to highlight how quickly time passes, and how important it is to free ourselves from its trappings (time passes regardless) and focus on the important, beautiful things in life, instead.

Enjoy the single, which is out now. A full album is expected at the end of 2025. For more information about that release, you can follow them on Lunar Lock’s Bandcamp page. I’d personally love to know more about how they can get such excellent guitar sounds from their keyboard setup!
