Whilst French producer rRoxymore is approaching her third album ‘Juggling Dualities’, I’ve only just discovered her fascinating mix of grooves and synths. For this album, rRoxymore started off creating new age cosmic music before weaving in techno beats, dubby bass, and celestial synths. The music has ambient hues, but transitions into something far more melodic and emboldened. It’s ethereal, pastel, spacious, and calming – but with a spine and poise to it that lots of new age music leaves behind.
‘Moodified’ is the lead single and is described as a “sundowner”. I’d agree. This is the kind of track you’d have on at dusk. The rhythms are smooth and clicky, reminding me a little of Four Tet, but it’s the synths and basslines that are the smoothest elements. It layers up over its six-minute runtime to get the listener into a beautiful, tranquil flow state.
The single ‘Moodified’ is out now, whilst ‘Juggling Dualities’ releases on 17th July. This is a far softer approach to music for rRoxymore. If you prefer something more techno and club-focused, her Boiler Room set is full of energy, whilst keeping her signature curveball samples and effects.
